MENDOCINO — November 2, 2026. The Ford House Visitor Center at 45035 Main Street is open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to nonprofit partner MendoParks.
An 1854 house serving as a museum
Jerome B. Ford’s historic residence now displays artifacts, photographs and a model showing the village around 1890. Ford helped establish Mendocino’s early logging industry; the house interprets that era without being simply an ordinary tourist information desk.
Seasonal exhibits
MendoParks advertises rotating displays on migrating whales, wildflowers, forests and mushrooms. A particular temporary exhibit’s schedule should be checked before making a long drive.
Public information and contact
The visitor center gives 707-937-5397 and provides interpretation of the surrounding Mendocino Headlands State Park. Staff can advise about walking routes and access changes but should not be assumed available outside opening hours.
