MENDOCINO — November 2, 2026. MendoParks identifies several repair and maintenance priorities at Mendocino Headlands State Park, including public beach access and restrooms at the historic Ford House.
Stairway and visitor access
The nonprofit project overview lists repairs to the Portuguese Beach staircase and replacement of boards along a Heeser-area fence line. These are important for public access, but a project list is not a same-day closure notice or proof each repair is already completed.
A heavily used public restroom
The group also describes renovation of Ford House restrooms, one of the village’s key public restroom facilities, with planned artwork by contemporary Pomo artists.
When conditions change
Visitors should follow posted work-area restrictions and use current park guidance for facilities that are temporarily unavailable. The official park operator and volunteer organization may publish different types of project updates.
