MENDOCINO — November 2, 2026. California State Parks describes Mendocino Woodlands, northeast of Mendocino village, as a year-round group retreat and environmental center with special group arrival arrangements.

How the park differs from a typical campsite

Unlike an ordinary public campground where travelers can claim an individual tent pad, the Woodlands hosts structured group camping and retreat activities. The state directs visitors to call about operating hours and group arrival schedules.

No dogs are allowed

The state park’s visitor listing says dogs are not permitted. A group leader should ensure participants know this before arranging travel and should confirm any legally required disability accommodations with staff.

Getting there

From Mendocino on Highway 1, State Parks directs drivers east on Little Lake Road and then onto a gravel access road. Call 707-937-5755 for current road conditions, retreat reservations and accessibility.
